Went over AP grammar & Style quiz from last class
Went over articles that were given back by Prof. Lawrence
"How to Cover Meetings"
-Find the most interesting thing and put it at the top
-Focus on key topics
*The best quotes you will get at a meeting are from either before of after, when you talk to the people individually
-Remember your audience!
"How to Cover Speeches"
- Grab a good seat
- Research the speaker
The lead of the speech story- The key point the person made!
- Summarize most provocative points
- Convey the tone of speech (ex.- angry, enthusiastic, sad)
- Use good direct quotes

Homework for 2/25:
News Quiz- Thursday, February 25th.
Find a film review online or in a newspaper or magazine. Pick one that is not too long, but is a concise review of a film or music. Identify 5-8 characteristics that are covered in the presentation of the review, such as plot, criticism, opening date, etc. Attach a copy of the review to the assignment.
Victoria: Very nicely done. Please remember her advice on how to cover a speech as we will be looking at one in class tomorrow. The speech will be by Edward R. Murrow, the legendary CBS news reporter. You can do a little research on him ahead of time, if you want!
